Best Time To Post On Facebook

Since we’re always striving to grow and increase interaction in our social media department, it isn’t unusual for us to be sending emails back and forth with new ideas and techniques to be used in our daily responsibilities. So instead of being selfish with the information, we decided we’d share with you some helpful tips and tricks that we’re learning and implementing right now.

Recently, our social media team did some extensive research on what the best times are to post on Facebook for optimal viewing and interaction. Here are the notes that one of our team members, Marcus Inyang, made about his findings:

From my research, I can roughly infer some trends when it comes to social media interaction, but nothing is set in stone as a law or absolute. Interaction can be unpredictable to some extent and it can vary from client to client and from account to account.

In terms of ideal days, it seems as though Wednesday nights, Thursdays, and Fridays are the best weekdays. The weekend days, Saturday and Sunday, are also great time slots for social interaction.

In terms of ideal times, 5a - 6a, 11a - 12p, 4p - 5p, & 7p - 10p are great brackets of time for interaction.

  • Those afternoon and night slots (4p - 5p & 7p - 10p) are probably the best, since people are off work or out of school and the day is winding down.
  • The early morning (5a - 6a) is effective because it sets your post to be the first thing someone sees in the morning.
  • The early afternoon slot (11a - 12p) is, for some, a lunch break. Most people have time to check their social media accounts during this slot.
  • Even later night times (10pm - 2am) are promising times for interaction. The thing we fight with is that it may not be the most professional. Although it is high in interaction, this time is not when people are looking for a service company. They may be looking for a clothing company or a restaurant though so it all depends on what you’re trying to sell.

We just have to keep in mind that although these "peak hours" for when people are on social media have the potential to get great interaction, they are also more competitive times to be on social media. For accounts that already have a following, these times are great. But for accounts that are just getting started up, posting outside of the "peak hours" could be better because there isn’t as much competing for people’s attentions.

In summary, the best times to post can be unique to each business and to each account that business posts on. Try out some of these peak times and keep a log book of days and times where you got great interaction. If our suggested timelines don’t work for you, be creative and try something new! In a world that is constantly changing, the best thing to do is to keep your eyes open to see your progress and to keep your ears open to changes that can be made to further that progress.
